Makoto Ueki (he/him) is a Web Accessibility Consultant in Japan. Makoto has been contributing to the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Working Group and the W3C’s Accessibility Guidelines Working Group since 2004. He is currently working on the WCAG 3 as an invited expert, and was chairman of the Web Accessibility Infrastructure Committee (WAIC) in Japan from 2012 to 2019. He is the first Japanese to be certified as an IAAP Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA). Makoto also co‑organizes an online event to celebrate the Global Accessibility Awareness Day every year and the monthly A11y Tokyo meetup.
