All of us should know about accessibility.

Welcome to Know About Accessibility. We’re happy you’re here!

We are Sarah Horton and David Sloan, co-authors of the book, What Every Engineer Should Know About Digital Accessibility. We created this website to support and extend the themes and topics from the book.

All of us have a role to play in digital accessibility, ensuring digital resources can be successfully used by people with disabilities. Our aim with this website is to build awareness, knowledge, and skills and collectively advance disability inclusion in the digital world. We all have so much to learn, together.

We intend this site to be a community-driven collection of perspectives on accessibility — from people who benefit from accessibility and people working to make more accessible digital resources.

To start, we are sharing the community perspectives from our book. These short essays are our favorite part of the book, and we are happy to share them more broadly.
